A few days ago I watched the film Pride & Prjeudice directed by Joe Wright, starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen as Lizzie and Mr. Darcy. I love a decent costume drama and a happy ending, and with Donald Sutherland playing the father 120 minutes of film still make it feel like a videoclip: it’s too short, you want more! BUT! what struck me at the end is the choice of sunset and sunflares, when finally the two lovers are united. A historical love scene, against a backdrop of seventies photo wallpaper… makes you think.
Surely Jane Austen wouldn’t have minded, hopeless romantic she was 😉
In my archive I call home, in one of the many folders with stuff, I found three postcards that connect with that scene. I did them up with embroidery thread, and they will be for sale on Etsy, in the shop linked to my blog. I will upload them asap, but for now, for everybody, here on show.
