This is one of the reasons I love museum shops: you get extra special wannahaves you couldn’t buy anywhere else! Now the DesignMuseum in London sells a wonderful selection of rugs, this one is by Lesley Barnes from Glasgow. She is an animator and illustrator who uses a graphic and colorful style to tell stories with both her illustration and moving image work. Her animations have shown in competition at film festivals all over the world and have won a number of awards.
Barnes is one of 18 designers and illustrators who have collaborated with Node to create a collection of beautiful rugs, handmade by a fair trade group of traditional Nepalese carpet makers. These exquisite rugs are exclusively available from the Design Museum Shop, for 800 pounds, instead of 950. Each rug will be produced in a limited edition of ten.
