Before They Pass Away – A photographic anthology of the last tribes by Jimmy Nelson, teNeues Editors
If in Amsterdam today, you have a unique opportunity to grab a slice of history: Photographer Jimmy Nelson (UK, 1967) is visiting, to promote his book Before They Pass Away, a collection of absolutely mind blowing images of the last surviving tribes. Nelson has been working on this project since 2009, visiting 44 countries and 31 different tribes. He has created a masterpiece, capturing the lives and traditions of proud and beautiful people, from faraway cultures and sometimes hidden societies.

Posing proudly on their grounds, they exhume pride and dignity, leaving the viewer in a somewhat painful awe: Wow! but, will it last?
Today at MENDO booksellers, Berenstraat 11, 1016GG Amsterdam Jimmy Nelson signs copies between 12 noon and 2 PM.
This is not an ordinary book review, this is a call for awareness. With globalization, the distinctive lifestyles of these tribes, their art and traditions are in danger. Here we see the guardians of ancient living cultures we should strive to preserve and let be. They live in close harmony with nature, in the world’s most pristine landscapes, we should never touch. Don’t go there, but enjoy Nelson’s report instead.
