Early colour by numbers by a 5 year old
The images above show brain training for 4 and 5 year olds; colour by numbers. This is something they are exposed to in school in an early stage, and it has nothing to do with art. {I am saying this because I love to show ‘art’ by children because of the unconditioned expression it shows. But the works above are not in that league, here’s why…} You can look at it as a mind jog, running from the letters to the colour box, taking one out, running back bringing the right one over and then go for the next. The sooner all boxes are filled with the right colour the better. The 5 year old get more boxes to fill than the 4 year olds, wiping out the white!
How does this compare to Painting by Numbers as we know it? Paintings, not by artists, but everyone else, made by filling up drawn shapes with paint in different solid colours. Is it the higher level game for more mature players, with more boxes to fill, more pieces to put together, jigsaw puzzle style?
And do some players not know the game and mistake the result for… art? Is it an branding/marketing/advertising miscom? some packaging looks a bit misleading… 😉
