Fabric Migration

Commercial location from Grace Locations Amsterdam

While I was looking for a location for a photography shoot, I came across this space. It is an old industrial building in which different corners have been transformed into living spaces, suitable for commercial photography. Spaces for rent.

What struck me was the chair.

Frazzle chair by Tejo Remy and René Veenhuizen on location

It is the Voddenstoel (chair made from rags and frazzle) by Tejo Remy and his partner René Veenhuizen made in 1991. 25 years ago and very now.

Each chair is unique, a stack of secondhand clothes, blankets and throws, tied onto a wooden construction tied together with metal straps. Like an industrial bunch of fabric ready for transport. Made into a comfort zone. Very now if you think of the migration of so many, going one way, and the amount of secondhand fabric going in the opposite direction, to offer comfort.

They will meet, the people and the fabric.
