Kapoor inside Rembrandt

The British-Indian artist Anish Kapoor has been invited by the Rijksmuseum to create a body of work to be exhibited in the museum, and he had to work with its most famous painting, the Nachtwacht by Rembrandt.

Kapoor opened the dialogue with the insides, the flesh under the skin. Internals Object in Three Parts is made in silicon, applied shortly before it becomes solid. The colours stand out against the dark caverns.

The canvas seems to be turned inside out, showing it’s gut.

Not the usual polished surface that makes people want to move, and play with their selfie.
