Here’s an image from my desktop, a painting I came across in Saatchi’s online gallery. It is by a Dutch painter Matthieu van Driel, Dutch Landscape.

Dutch Landcape by Matthieu van Driel (h 63 x w 42,7 inch) for USD $4840,-.
I live in the Netherlands, Dutch Landscape has always been my surroundings. And this image sends my mind racing, going through my mental cabinets looking for this image, have I seen this before?
Did I pass it not noticing?
The yellow is striking, and there is an image popping up in my memory: 1984. Going to school on my bicycle, from one northern village to the other, in the light of September. Fields of yellow flowers all around a straight black marker drawn road. The prickly yellow of mustard seed all along the way to school. It being over 30 years ago, I wonder if it could have been a Yellow Brick Road? And I didn’t notice.
