Until recently boys in the Dutch village of Marken were dressed like the girls when wearing traditional clothing.
Preparing for a photo shoot with the theme Duch Masters I saw a documentary on tv about the Dutch village of Marken, which used to be an island. It told the story of a small community losing its traditions after connecting with the main land by a tongue of land. A curious fact learned was the tradition to dress boys, up to the age of 8, as girls.
Morning, Wilma, that fact is not so curious, a lot of boys elsewhere were dressed like girl when being photographed officially or going out. My father being one of them. He hated it!
Wow, thanks for sharing Lid, I never heard of this before, but there you go 😉 Where did he grow up?
