Explorers | work by group 5 of the primary school De Dapper in Amsterdam | Results from my first round of practice as an artist teacher.
You would think everything here on earth has been discovered by now. If you would want to find something new, where would you go? How would you travel?
This was the question I put upon a group of 8 and 9 year olds, doing my first workshop as an artist/teacher last month. And this is their answer: From all the stuff I brought along to school they constructed explorers. Most kids decided they would have to check out space, some were considering the deep sea. I think it could be either with these vessels, they do look the part!
(By the way, crazy to think, that when you don’t take out your plastic recyclables for two weeks, you have -almost- enough rough material to kick start a group of 20 creatives.)

This blog now features an audio widget in the right top corner. Because one thing I noticed – and enjoyed – while shopping in New York recently is good background music.
