What Will 11 Years-Olds Say To Man-Made Bugs?

Tomorrow I am doing a workshop with 11 and 12 year olds on insects. As an artist I inspire them (diverge in educational lingo) to create a new insect, a man-made hybrid of technology and biology, to survive – and save mankind basically. Saving ourselves.

The image above is from the newspaper, an article on art. It is a mosquito made of thread and beads, a cell battery and a resistor, done by Martha Rosler. It gives me the shivers.

I will show it to the children, curious to see what they say.
