February 2020 on the Black Cat Calendar
Next month’s black cat is sitting on a roof, a bit forlorn. A black cat on a roof, what does it say? What’s coming in February?

Black cats – Good or bad luck?
The spiritual meaning of seeing a black cat varies from culture to culture. Cats have been living with humans for centuries. It’s not known why black cats have a link with magic and witches.
History suggests cats were special crew members on ships because they bring good luck and companionship for the lonely crew. Many ships reached their destination with a black cat on board.
NB : It made me think – on top of the unexpected not-so-good news I received today that’s been chewing my brain since – both my dad and grandad lived a large part of their lives at sea. “Many ships reached their destination with a black cat on board” reminds me of them and they are telling me that there is a possibility of luck. Luck is in the room. So keep your chin up, and give it your best shot. As if they know my thoughts.

PS | 14122020 | The Dutch National Lottery chose a cute little black kitten – called Frummel – to star in this year’s End-Of-The-Year-Mega-Draw commercial.
The message is: Believe In Luck!
In trade magazine Adformatie Darre van Dijk, chief creative officer of TBWA \ Neboko – the agency behind it – says about the concept: “The power of this campaign lies in the disruption of the idea, by giving the symbol of bad luck, a black kitten, the leading role. With Frummel we show that by believing in happiness, the most beautiful things can happen.
