Staying in, staying up late,  I worked on my father’s portrait again.

I love the work of Matisse, his patterns and subjects. His parents had a fabric shop, he was born in heaven, and shared it with the world through his work.

And Dries van Noten, the incredibly stylish Belgian artist in fashion. His knows the magic of fabric in dressmaking so well. He’s a favorite too.

And although I am trying to paint, now that I finally have the time – due to the crazy situation we’re suddenly in – layering different technics is actually the most rewarding part of the process. Each layer adds a story to the portrait, to my dad, like a mind map of sorts.
